I really do have a great boss (and he even works out of town from me). He was here this morning working with me and I mentioned in passing that I thought since tomorrow was a psuedo-holiday (you know the day before the long weekend and hardly anyone comes to work and those that do then don’t really work much?) that I was going to wear jeans (not really in our dress code ‘per se’). That I felt like it and was just going to do it. He said “I think that is a fine idea”. What a guy! Now I have supervisor permission and who can deny you then?

I also mentioned that since it is summer time and no one academic except peons seem to be working that I was taking advantage and leaving about 10 minutes early each day. Again…”I think that is a fine idea”. Sometimes this job situation is pretty darn good for all my bitching.

I’m wondering if some of my reads think I’m a stalker? For some reason several people on my blogroll never show as updated so if I’m online and reading blogs I’ll just click on theirs to see if they’ve updated. This got me to thinking that sometimes I’ll do that several times a day and they might wonder if I don’t have a life. Well…technically that is true…but honestly I’m quite sane. You can trust me.

I have to say I’m liking it. I never thought I really would. Seemed a little too hokey, not enough of anything to do you physically any good. But I kept hearing people talk and they offer it at the gym I belong to and I thought what the hey I’d take a couple of classes.

I’m hooked. I love it. Even I can do it without any prior knowledge and more than a little “extra” around the hips. It’s amazing how you use your own body weight to strengthen and still you come out having had very little sweat yet you feel the burn.

Honestly, there is also the peace you feel once you’ve finished as well. Where does that come from? I’d have never believed it before trying it. So I encourage you if you get the chance to take a yoga class to try it out. You too might be pleasantly surprised.

So I go to wallyworld a week or so ago and I buy some yoga pants. Wallyworld doesn’t call them yoga pants of course, because it is wallyworld. All the cool kids in yoga wear these knit capri’s and they were so cute. All I had were shorts (and doing the downward dog you feel out of place in shorts) or these skin tight leggings, which let’s face it are not attractive on me. So I found these at wallyworld that would do the trick and they were cheap…like $8.

Can I say that I love them! They are so comfortable. I probably wouldn’t wear them “out of the house” (except for yoga) but I think I may need another pair for around the house slounging.

And I’m now one of the “cool kids” in yoga with my snazzy capri knit pants!

It’s amazing but did you know that if you bring your speakers closer to you that you can hear them better without turning them up? You really should worry more about me.

I can say that the move at work has made it much quieter. At least during the summer. The autumn might bring a bit more noise…time will tell. I do like the quiet for the most part, but if I want to goof off there is no one to really talk to. There are a lot of researchers on this floor and they just don’t seem like the chatty type. I’ve been refusing to go downstairs unless I can’t avoid it just on principle. But the people down there I did have to guard everything I said because they were gossips. Oh well. Nothing’s perfect I suppose.

However, there really isn’t a window near and with the quiet I feel so isolated. I don’t even know what the weather is doing (it’s just frickin’ hot). It’s also hot up here and I’ve had to turn my fan on. So with no one to talk to and no window to look out of I just really haven’t had much to say. It’s a sad state when you bore yourself.

I’m really getting tired of all the multi-millionaires(+) getting all pissy because they are making a few mil less. Big deal. Live in a homeless person’s shoes and then you can complain. Even I can’t complain about my life and I’m no where near having a million dollars. Yes you have a valid argument about creative rights but if you (and the wheelerdealers) would lower your expectations about what you should make for your creative ways and make your product more affordable you wouldn’t be having so many problems. No one should need as much money as they have to live. It’s ridiculous and ostentatious.

Now if you were taking all your millions and giving it away and living like the rest of us I might have some sympathy. Right now? Go piss in a corner…I just don’t care.

Why, after nearly a month, is those 3 flights of stairs still kicking my ass? I go up and down them at least 6 – 8 times a day….shouldn’t they be getting easier by now?

Why are they so difficult? It’s not like you don’t know they are coming so you can prepare yourself. Why is it so hard to get out of bed?

Saturday at my mom’s was a chore! Thankfully even tho it was really, really hot and humid the deck is covered and on the west side of the house so we started early in the morning and were done before the sun got to the point that we would have been working in the sun. Didn’t even need my sunscreen. Thankfully, my sister was there to help so the project went much faster than if I had been attempting to do it myself. I could have done it myself, but I was grateful for a partner in crime. Lots of bending, etc but my yoga apparently is paying off because I’m not sore at all from the work. Go me!

After we washed off the mess on ourselves (not very neat apparently) we went back to the café and Saturday was the town’s big downtown event and they were packed. One waitress (my aunt actually) had slipped and hurt her back and wanted to go home so my sister and I got to work helping out at the café at that point. Luckily for us there was only about 4 hours to go to the day and it passed quickly. We got the distinct pleasure of clean-up however after a busy, busy day that ended with a backed up sewer pipe. Ahhh…

After a bit of rest and clean up of ourselves we had dinner with family members in town and then I headed to home. Wonderfully, quiet home. The husband had a good day visiting with a friend and then having a peaceful house to himself so he was in a good mood. The daughter spent the day with her boyfriend’s family as it was his parent’s 25th wedding anniversary celebration.

Sunday I was as lazy as I could be between cleaning the house (just spit and polish as I was tired of cleaning!) and catching up on laundry and taking a nice nap. In fact, I didn’t even leave the house all day on Sunday. I was going to go to the grocery store but when I got up from my nap the husband had already gone and I didn’t have to!

I would complain about having to actually work 5 days this week BUT I have all next week off as vacation with the husband. We aren’t going anywhere specific although we might take a day trip off somewhere who knows. I would like to take in a matinee and we do have some honey-do’s around the house with a fence that is trying to fall over so I’m sure we will find things to occupy our time.

It’s Friday! I have a reason to leave work at 11 but yet still be “on the clock”. True I’ll be sitting in and listening to a couple of lectures downtown, but it isn’t at my desk and I get a free lunch!

I’m tired from my day yesterday as I was at the office from 8 – 5 and then had an alumni meeting/dinner I had to attend that started at 6 (which you know I had to be there earlier) and didn’t end until 10. Plus I had three glasses of wine during the dinner and that pooped me out even more. Age has disadvantages for sure.

I have to make an early night of it tonight (even tho it is a Friday) because I have to get up at the butt crack of dawn (and we know we hate to see butt crack) and go to my mom’s (which is a little over an hour away) and do the honey-do’s she needs done. This while I make an excuse to my husband that I’m just going to visit her because she asked me to so that he doesn’t get wind of the honey-do’s until they are done. I think I have him talked into going fishing with a buddy. He really needs some guy time to do just what he wants to do.

So think of me tomorrow in that 100 degree, humid, sticky outside weather-proofing a deck. Where’s the suntan lotion…I’m a very white girl after all!
